The history of "UAE Bunts" – as it is proudly called today dates back to three successful decades when a group of four vibrant young couples decided to have an informal gathering. Little did they know that the association would evolve into what it is today – BRAVE, UNITED, NATURAL, TOUGH AND SUCCESSFUL (that's what BUNTS stand for!!!).

The formation of UAE Bunts is attributed to Mr. BBK Shetty & Mrs. Usha BBK Shetty, Mr. Inna Surendra Shetty & Mrs. Madhavi Surendra Shetty, Mr. Jayaram Shetty & Mrs. Prema Jayaram Shetty and Mr. Satishchandra Bhandary & Mrs. Mamatha Satischandra Bhandary, together with few other prominent Bunts. Considering the number of Bunts present here during those days, the gathering was limited to just a group of 5-10 couples. Events were organized under the leadership of Mr. Shankar Shetty who successfully organized six events. The sixth gathering also witnessed the end of Mr. Shankar Shetty's era as an organizer when he decided to move to Oman to explore greener pasture.

By this time, the association comprised of 200 members and hence felt the void upon his departure. However, it did not take much time for Mr. Sarvotham Shetty to fill this void, who generously took charge of this task. Owing to his dynamic personality, he ably took the organization forward while witnessing a significant increase in the number of members each year. He has been instrumental in encouraging more and more Bunts to join the association whose number currently stands at 1,500. But you would be surprised to note that around 4,000 Bunts are currently residing in the U.A.E.

UAE Bunts is affiliated to the Matr Sangha, Mangalore and maintains a smooth channel of communication with other Bunt Organizations in India. Padmashree recipient Dr. B. R. Shetty, who has been our patron over the years, has been a strong support to the association. Under his auspices, the association has moved forward and earned a reputation of being one of the prestigious associations of India in the U.A.E. This reputation has also encouraged many other associations worldwide, to repeatedly invite Dr. B. R. Shetty as their chief guest.

We are proud to mention that despite the absence of a formal committee structure, UAE Bunts has stood UNITED as a single association over all these years. The annual activity of the association is handled by 10 working committee couples who are appointed each year during the Annual Get-together. With this approach the association ensures that each member of the UAE Bunts get an opportunity to participate in the working committee, thus, motivating harmony and togetherness within the association and its members. Almost 90% of our members have already been appointed as working committee members and this has also helped them to demonstrate their leadership qualities.

Each year the association witnesses active participation of these members as a result of which the objective of the association is aiming new horizons. UAE Bunts is now moving towards achieving its goals by socially and economically extending a helping hand to fellow community members both in UAE and India, which is equally supported by our generous sponsor's.

Some of the projects currently planned are as follows:

1- Marriage Fund: to support the needy family upto a limit of INR 25,000/- per bride. Appeal will be considered upon receipt of strong recommendation from the respective local Bunt Sanghas.

2- Matrimony

3- Jobs

4- Creating a support system for the poor and needy.

The launch of this website will fuel a strong support to "UAE Bunts" in achieving its objectives and thus taking this association to its highest level.
